Secret Service - The Service Is Spectacular
Debut from this latest Memphis supergroup. Members include Justice Naczycz, Steve Selvidge, Mark Stuart, and John Argroves. This rocks hard. Pop punk hooks ala M.O.T.O. or the Subteens. CD $12.99

Impala - Night Full Of Sirens: Anthology '93-'97 - CD
Arguably one of the best bands in Memphis during the 90's. The shows these guys put on at Barrister's were the stuff of legends. This cd is overflowing with 30 tracks of sleazy-instro bliss. You name the style: surf, r&b, garage, lounge, country & western - it's on here and it's good! And since all their Crypt releases are out-of-print, this is your only chance left. Highly Recommended - $12.99

Cory Branan - 12 Songs
Cory stretches out on this looong awaited 2nd release. Fans will still get the usual pretty alt-country songs - but there's some nice rockers and darned if there ain't a funk-soul number! Check out "Mohammed Ali (And Me)." The cast of characters on this puppy reads like a Who's Who of Memphis: Jody Stephens, Jim Spake, Steve Selvidge, Ben Nichols, Roy Berry, just to name a few! Great stuff! CD $12.99

The Hook-Up!!! - Simmer to a Boil: 2 Dozen Soul Cookers - CD
One of our resident mixologists (not to mention of of Memphis' hottest spinners) comes across with an amazing batch of super-rare soul 45s. These tracks are sequenced slow-to-fast (simmer to a boil, get it?). Get it! Just $7.99!

Various Artists - Makeshift 4 compilation - 2 CD
At long last, our friends at Makeshift have come up with another mind-boggling assortment of new Memphis pop and rock. 46 fresh cuts on 2 cds! Monsieur Jeffrey Evans (along with wildman Ross Johnson!), the Coach and Four, Brad Postlethwaite, David Shouse (of the Grifters!), the Glass, Cory Branan, Vending Machine, and Mouserocket are all featured here, just to name a few. Great comp for those who wanna find out what's going on in the Memphis underground right now! Recommended! $18.99

Various Artists - Southern Soul Showcase: Crying In the Streets -CD
Holy cow, we can't get this cd out of the cd player, it's so freakin' good! A wonderful compilation of southern soul and r&b from the vaults of Shelby Singleton International featuring well-known artists like Bettye Lavette, Big John Hamilton, and Johnny Adams. But buy this for the obscure acts like Reuben Bell, Johnny Soul, Double Soul, and Calvin Leavy. No, BUY THIS for the sublime title track by Memphis-own George Perkins and the Silver Stars. Highly Recommended! - $19.99

Amy Levere -This World Is Not My Home - CD
Extremely well-received cd from the former Amy & The Tramps singer. Features an all-star line-up of Jim Dickinson, Jimbo Mathus, Paul Taylor and many others. Amy's got a very distinctive, girlish voice and sings in a very "folk-rootsy" style. She'll probably get lumped in with the alt-country crowd, but she's more old-school. Better, too! Recommended. CD $16.99
